Is it possible to throw a code 15 and still have spark?

car is stalling intermittantly when its below freezing but then starts right back up and runs great.

sometimes b4 it quits it will sputter. sometimes it willl just ilde and the gas dont do anything for a few seconds then it dies,

it always starts back up in a minute or so

while it was cranking i put a timing light in it and it had spark,

With the key on I can hear the FP for 3 secs

above freezing it runs fine, all summer it runs fine

original owner 75K on the clock.

Dizzy, TB, WP, stat, belts, hoses, cap, rotor, plugs were replaced about 15K ago by a shop.
EDIT: They used the old ECM and put that into the new dizzy to save me some $$ but that was over 3 years ago and the prob started now,

Code 15 says ign output failiure which i reasearched to be ignitor related but I still have spark when cranking.

any ideas

 

What color is the spark?

 

I've been reading a few posts on spark lately... just because you see spark doesn't necessarily mean you have proper spark... sounds like a bad coil

 

If the spark is not intense enough...no combustion.

 

i Dont know the color of the spark. but its firing the timing light.

I just ordered a coil and ignitor $150 from Napa

should have it manana and install it over the w/e

we'll see what happens over the next cold spell

right now its 55 out and will be for the next week so it ran fine yesterday and today.

im figiuring its prob due for that by now and its wortha shot anyways
