i have a z6 am putting in a ek coupe ex am using the stock ek harness

my ? is can i use a y8 dizzy i dont have a z6 one

i read all over the net some people say yes others say no so i came to the pro's for the answer



also what else do need it run a obd2a ecu i need to stupid state

i did the crank angle senser jump trick,am having a 2nd o2 put in my car didnt have a 2nd go figure,and i gat the senser that goes by the injectors that has a vacum line to the manifold its from a b16 idk if it will work

i have also read i will need a knock sensor but i think i read theres ways to trick that as well any ideas how



i know its alot but your help is rally needed

 

Your state won't fail you for having an older motor in a newer chassis? You know that's illegal on a federal level.

 

The base of the Y8 dizzy wont line up with the Z6

 

there weird here they plug a scanner if you have cel or in my case running a obd1 ecu it wont read they wont pass

Why not get a hold of a Y8 head. Problems pretty much solved.

 

i already have the complete z6 and i never changed a head to be honest and am on a budget here and cant afford the gaskets and resurface the head

y8 dizzy wont work use the z6 just get a jumper harness or cut plug of y8 dizzy and install on z6 dizzy......you will need knock sensor or trick it and the crank angel sensor.. and your good .....that sensor by the injectors is for emission and the ex and si use the same......if you have the y8 use the entire y8 intake mani on the z6

 

Can the swap be done? Yes, but it's illegal to do it.
if you any sort of emissions in IL you will FAIL.

nj's great they don't check the vins on motor or anything just plug in to obd2 port if computer passes your good to go on emissions part

 

don't you guys have inspections that are pretty strict?

 

go to some bootlegs place.....i stay going there cuz either my car is dropped,tinted or swapped.....well if you know any place of course

 

delaware is the same way i have a z6 in my 96 EJ

 

here in IL they only plug you up if it passes you your done thats why am tryng to do this am working on the z6 dizzy and i only wish i had the y8 i would have rebuild it with the money i spent on the z6 but thank you guy so much for the input i jumped the crank angle sensor and am going to get a buzzer for the knock sensor LOL thats what they say to use plus am going to running a p28 all the time except when smog comes along oh by the way its a 1996 ex thats getting all this thank you guys again

cool cool i checked it out am working on get the dizzy i gat 2 y8 dizzys but no z6 LOL i may have to rewire it do to my unemployment being over i have to see
