B16B knock help advice
I recently swapped a B16b into my 96 civic ex bought a complete package from TorontoJDM witch came with a 30 day start up warranty so i got the engine wired up and dropped it in the car to see if it runs. I didn't replace anything on the engine just checked the timing belt by cracking the valve cover to make sure it was in good shape. Replaced the oil and filter and the engine started right up i only ran it for a few minutes being that i did not have the cooling system hooked up. It idled just fine no strange noises of any kind after that the car sat for a couple of months while i changed a bunch of suspension stuff until i went to start it up again a week ago this time to flush the cooling system with a water hose. The car started right up and sounded just fine while idling the car for about 15 minutes or so trying to get the water temperature to go up the engine made a clicking noise and started knocking witch i noticed right away. While trying to figure out where the noise was coming from i gave it some gas and the knocking got a whole lot louder witch after some research and youtube videos led me to believe it was rod knock.
Engine sounded like this:

Now i took off the oil pan and rod and main caps to find the bearings looking like this:
Rod #1

Main #2

Main #4

and some others with similar damage.
Now my question is does that look like enough damage to cause similar rod knock noise like in the video? or what else could cause that noise and what would cause that damage in the first place? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated

The noise after the very first start, is infact rod knock, but it went away , motor must have sat for a good bit. Thats very normal for a engine that doesn't run for awhile.
The "ticking" you hear.. is you're LMAs lol...they are bad.

So the condition the bearings are in wouldn't damage the crank would they? Can i just replace them with same color bearings and plastigage for clearances? And as far as LMA's go is that a serious problem difficult/expensive to fix? Thanks

Another question about the LMA's any alternatives to using the type r's in the B16B head? I read about some people using the new style H22's in their B16A heads but I'm not sure about the B16B
Use the prelude Spring type LMAs.
Bearings look fine, expect for a few. Now that you've actually taken the bottom part down, i'd replace the main bearings, leave the rods as is.

Thanks a lot for your help I've actually already ordered all the main and rod bearings so i might as well replace them all. I'm gonna try to do more research as far as how to use the H22 LMA's in my B16B head
Those main bearings have seen low oil pressure/supply. You need to have the bottom end inspected properly. Something isn't right... Rod bearings are fine though.
I'm planning on using an oil pressure gauge and cranking the engine over with the fuel system disabled to make sure it makes pressure before start up and possibly replacing the oil pump if the pressure is not right. What else would you suggest checking that could restrict/cause not enough pressure to build?
