HELP! Motor started clicking.
When i started my car in the morning. It started clicking at first i thought i bent a valve or a rod knock. i drove across a pool of water on the highway the night before coming home from school. it was a down poor hardly able to see. thought it was from hydro-locking. The noise is coming from the driver side next to the timing belt. Anyone has ever had this problem? help would be great thanks.

Re: HELP! Motor started clicking.
well, assuming you have a CAI and kept the throttle open, i suppose its possible, but more than likely if you had gotten water in there you would be having A LOT worse problems than clicking. by the way, and please do correct me if i'm wrong, the definition of being hydro-locked is when your engine is totally shot from water getting in there and trying to be compressed and your engine therefore show's no signs of life at all.
now, onto what the problem really could be, more information would be good. car type and engine, and what did you see when you looked in the engine bay to check it out? (assuming you did, or else pin-pointing the noise would be near impossible) see if you can get some more information about it, no offense, but a clicking noise isn't too descriptive. someone that know more than i do can probably come up with quite a few different possibilities off the top of their head.

Re: HELP! Motor started clicking.
Well. I have an intake not a CAI. I have a 98 civic d16y8 stock motor only mod is intake. The noise itself is coming from the timing belt side. sounds like bottom is where the clicking is coming from. I took a look this morning and i changed the oil and the noise was still there. I think it might be my crank or something around my belt area is what i think.

no metal. there noise coming from the intake manifold but the serious noise is coming around belts. I checked it again tonight and from what i am hearing it sounds its coming from around the a/c p/s belts so it could be my pulley. going to make sure this weekend.
