my hatch is performing weird & funny. i have a single cam non vtec motor. somebody told me that i need to adjust my valves. im not sure if thats true. when i hit the brakes to stop/slow down, the motor dies out. in order to prevent the motor from shutting off, i have to tap the gas pedal. any help are greatly appreciated. thanks for your time

 

Is your check engine light on? Whens the last time you did a tune up? Cleaned your IACV?

Sorry for the late response. I forgot to mention that I bought this hatch recently. This hatch has been sitting around for almost a year or so. Since this motor has a some kind of problem(s), will I be able to pass smog?

 

 

Yea the check engine light is on.

 

This is going to be like pulling teeth. There were three questions there, as well as an implication that you need to pull your CEL and tell us what it is. Come back when you can answer the other two questions, and tell us the CEL.
