Default compression test issues - important

yesterday i did a compression test on jdm b16a in cold test before start up.

those are the following results i got: cyl 1- 180psi
2-175psi
3- 0 psi
4- 0 psi

when i see this result, i knew this is not good compression at all. could be blown or etc etc..

so i called the shop in orlando where i bought from. they tell me that it was because of cold. and they tell me that i should let run it up and warm it up. that my compression will build up. to be honest i doubt it. i still should get compression even in cold? is there any difference? should i start it up? please give feedback or anything. appriecate it

you also have to have the throttle wide open, but even then it still shouldn't be 0. though compression tests should be done on an engine at operating temp.

well. i bought this engine from jdm shop in orlando two weeks ago, they tell me that the motor is in about 45k miles. so i replaced timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, spark wires, clutch kits and check underneath valve cover, i see light cooper/gold on internal parts from oil. everything seem good, i dropped in the engine bay, before i start up, i did compression test. and there goes the result.

i told them i need to replace other with known good compression on one of their engines. they go like, no no you need to start it up and let it run for a few day and the compression will build up. wtf it doesnt build up in a few days. it will have compression right there, right now as it should be.

I think the engine is toast. However, is the mechanical timing dead on? What do the numbers look like if you add a tablespoon of oil to each cylinder prior to the compression test?

yes i still have warranty until feb 25.

i added a teaspoon of oil to each cyl. number 4 improved but still underrated at 50psi, number 3 still has 0 psi. the rest still the same psi as before.

mechincal timing on? u mean tdc? yes the timings right..

Pull the motor and return it, if the mechanical timing is dead on:

Return what you bought from them for a full refund (or whatever the warranty covers) then go somewhere else.

well i called back and they insist me to have it running first. they kept saying that the motor was sitting for too long time and probably loses it compression. so im gonna ahead run it up. if its still low compression after operating temp. then they want me to call back...
