Default VSS - 1st gen CRX B16

Hey everyone.

For all you guys running B-series in your 1st gen CRX's:

Do you need the VSS out of the back of an 88-91 CRX gauge cluster? Or is the 1st gen one usable?

the vss is on the trans.. sometimes you need a cable one if your b16 came with an electric one.

if you have an electric vss on your trans. you can use one out of a d series trans.

Ok sounds good. So I wouldn't have to steal anything out of my 2nd gen gauge cluster to make it work, huh?

nope, use your stock speedo gear and slip it into the B16 tranny.
so nothing has to be done to the cluster end of the speedo cable.

I wonder if there's a difference in vss from Si and DX models...My D series VSS from a DX hatch did not work on my y1 tranny. I had to get one from a cable B16 one.

i've done 3 swaps. I haven't tried to use the speed sensor in the cluster. I just get a chipped PR3 or PW0.(make sure to get the VSS flag turned off)

if you get the vss turned off (dunno how since it is cable, other than unplugging) how do you know how fast you are going? and how would your engine know how to perform at the speed or what ever?
