What do u think of ACT?
Need to replace the clutch in my B16. I have shopped and researched alot of diff brands personally like waht ACT has to offer. But I have nerver used ACT b4 and was wondering what the masses had to say
? or
?
For referance I'm looking at the 6puck sprung disc w/ HD pressure plate and lighten flywheel($600 cdn. for whole kit).

If it's for daily driven....don't mess with 6puck. Get the SS/HD kit. I've used ACT in two different setups and they tend to last longer than other brands....especially if you "dog" your ride often like I did.
It is DD, but tracked on the weekends....which is why I'm leaning towards to 6puck.
By "dog" do u mean beat on? If so, I'm not the nicest to my clutch's so thats good news to me!

I bought a used ACT for my old prelude. Had about 10k on it when I got it and I put another 17k on it before I blew the tranny. Great clutch with nice feel. I didn't have a 6 puck tho.
Trust me...when it came to my old Civic hatch, I made sure it was being used to my liking. The HD/SS is perfect for weekend track time. If you live in an area with bad rush hour traffic, you will hate the heavy clutch pedal feel of the 6-puck. The HD/SS is a tad heavier than stock but it holds its own. I had my clutch for almost 3yrs until I replaced it for another ACT setup when I decided to turbocharge my engine setup.

Have u used any of their flywheels b4?
As for their flywheel, I'm not too crazy about lightened flywheels. I have friends who had them but I would rather stick to a resurfaced stock flywheel. You can have a local shop resurface it for you for around $30 or so. Lightened flywheels tend to make you lose torque.

I would avoid the 6-puck clutch setup. My cousin had one on his DD car and it lasted him only a year. The sad thing was that he never ever went to a track at all or really beat on it.
i got the ss/hd 6 puck in my dd and im not easy on it at all im makin good trq and whp and it holds up real good ive had it in there for about 2 yrs now, i recommend act neday
I have the Heavy Duty Pressure Plate/6 puck disc (HD/G6) with an ACT pro light flywheel combination in my dd and I love it. I have approximately 6k miles on the setup and no problems or issues. The pedal feel is heavier then stock, but not so heavy where it wears you out during stop and go traffic. I've had many different setups from many different manufacturers and usually when you go to any 4-6 puck style disc your going to have clutch chatter. This is the first time that I've used ACT and I haven't had any chatter what so ever. I would recommend this setup to anyone that wants a dd but would like to take it to the track occasionally. Like I said the pedal feel is going to be noticeably heavier but I got used to it within a few days. You'll love it!!
The engine will most likely be coming out of my car within the next week or 2. I have an ACT Xtreme PP (used, but appears to be in good shape) that I am probably gonna swap in for the XTD PP at that time. Currently I have a Competition Clutch sprung 6puck disc and XTD 8lb flywheel in there with only 4500mi on them, so I'm gonna keep both of those as long as they look OK.
The only thing I'm concerned about is my clutch master cylinder. It may have never been replaced since 1995, and the ACT Xtreme PP may do it in. But oh well...
After reading the replies to this post I'm thinking this clutch setup will last a while.
The lighter flywheel will allow quicker acceleration, but kind of like what some have said, the lighter flywheel will not do you any favors in heavy rush hour traffic.
