Firewall connector Tucked harness
I'm doing a tucked harness and was going to just do it straight from the engine to the ECU/gauges, that way has worked before. But saw this connector on ebay and seems to be pretty decent. Talked to the guys selling it and they said they are metal (not plastic), and the pins are removeable (which seems really handy). This would make it easier to have it on the firewall and just disconnect if I need to. I don't wanna spend all the money on a mil-spec connector, but $20 seems to be pretty good. Any of you guys use these before?

Also, can you solder the wires to the pins or do you have to have the special crimper to connect them?
I found these also, Soviet connectors that look stronger (pins aren't removeable, that's the only difference).

The green one looks like hard plastic. The Soviet one looks like metal. Both are cheap. Don't even know why you stopped in here to start a thread since either is an inexpensive alternative.
Get one and see how the wiring goes after.

Yeah I guess I can just get one and see, but thought someone must of used them before. The only other ones I see are well over $250 or don't have enough pins. Do you guys know of some cheap, but proven plugs?
^ its solder to the wires that are already crimped. If he gets one off eBay that doesn't have wires in it like the ones posted above you need the crimper.
Yeah, the only ones I see cost over $250 and don't look that complicated, then just have a complete circle crimp instead of making a pancake out of it. Know of any cheaper ones?

Well I was going to just run it without any quick disconnect connector but if it's cheap enough I might just do it. Is there any 40+ pin connectors that aren't firewall mounted ones, maybe just a plain connector?
I was thinking of getting a connector from another vehicle. And also I would mount it inside the car. So that it does not have issues with water and road grime.
