Anyone know were to get new pins for the plugs that go on the engine harness? I need both the male and female pins.

Re: Engine Harness Plug Pins? (Jamarquis)
I went to a local Pick a part salvage yard and just cut off a couple of connectors, took them home and figured out how to remove them with out damaging anything. then removed the ones that i needed and repinned mine. Hope it helps.

Re: Engine Harness Plug Pins? (j_scobar)
I have a ton of the plugs, (i have 2 full parts cars) I want to re-pin them but I want to use new male and female pins. I had spliced my wire harness when I did an engine swap a few years ago on my first Sol, My new project car I have bigger plans for and don't want to splice the whole harness I'd rather make it plug and play then I can test my electrical connections before I do the big swap. And it will look nicer not having any splices.
Thanks

I depinned an old harness and spliced, soldered. Then i used shrink tubbing. Then Sleeved. No Problems and this way you can extend or shorten cirtuits.

I think you'd be happier with re-pinning it, that's what i did and it came out real clean and everything fits easier when trying to tuck it away. Sure you can splice them but then if your ever trouble shooting the wire colore might not match up.

Re: Engine Harness Plug Pins? (j_scobar)
thats what i was thinking splicing just opens up spots to introduce interference in the ECU signals.
Basically I'm going to be making a Mid Engine car (inspired by Project Gemini and S.W.A.G. and am going to make extension cords for the engine harness that go from the front of the car to the rear. that way I can make them up this winter before I actually do the swap and make sure that the engine will run well with the longer wire runs, and not have any wiring issues. Thats why I'm looking for the Pins so I can make up the wires. I don't really want to salvage the pins from the Old plug but if I have to I will. I'd rather just spend the money and buy new pins to start fresh, I have the shielded wire on order. So I'm just looking for the pins now.

Have you tried buying them from honda? they may sell them, probably at a severly inflated price. If I remember correctly they're made by Tyco, you just need to find out exactly what the tyco part numbers are for the pins you want and then order them, you'll also need some special crimping pliers.

I do this kind of thing at work all the time. (repinning that is) I work for a local semiconductor fab, We use a different kind of plug on our tools, but the crimper does the same thing, its just the end that's different. I'll look on Tyco's site and see if i can dig anything up.
