Default Dc sports header, 96 d16y7, how to prevent CEL

Just bought a used dc sports header for my 96 d16y7, stock one was cracked and made my car annoying loud. The header has one o2 sensor bung at te bottom near the cat, my car has two o2 sensors, what do I gotta do or get to all make this work with no CEL. Any would I need a new exhaust manifold gasket or anything? Thanks.

You'll have to get another bung welded in. Of this:

the secondary O2 is only used to monitor catalyst efficiency. as long as both primary and secondary are plugged into the right place and the primary is in the exhaust the engine will run fine without the CEL on. (no CEL and good gas mileage on my Y7 coupe for 4 years like this...)

this will not pass smog however. if you need to pass smog you will need to have a catalytic converter added after the header. you can swap the OE B-pipe from an EX which would allow for you to use the EX cat as well.

so would i need a cat? i was gonna do this...

put the headers on, extend the wire from the front o2 sensor that is plugged in to the top of the stock exhaust manifold and plug that one into a new d16y8 EX catalyic convertor installed after the headers. would that be easier or should i just install a bung right up front the dc header so i dont have to extend any wires?

so is the one that is plugged up front that you can see sticking out of the headers when you open the hood the primary or secondary? cause the secondary is always near the catalytic convertor correct? if so the one up front should be the secondary and the one under the car is the primary? i dunno, didnt know the y7 had the cat under the hood and not under the car haha

dont really care fo the DC header, just bought it cause i couldnt find a factory replacement so i settled for this but sucks that i have to buy a cat or ill be without one and move the wire unless i just just weld the bung up front but that would look weird and probably not function the same.

the primary is always before the cat, the secondary is either after the cat or in the middle of the cat. in the case of the Y7 it's after.

you don't need a cat with this setup, but the exhaust will smell like rotten eggs and be pretty dirty.

it's not hard to extend the primary O2 wires. just pull them out of the loom and tape it all back up to stay tidy. the best place the weld the bung in aftermarket exhaust is at the last collector in a 4-2-1, right before the flange where the cat is normally attached.
