I have a 1992 Honda Civic Si (hatchback). The other day i was driving and around the 2000 - 3,000 rpm range in first and second gear the engine would start choking up and my speedometer and temp gauge would start jumping everywhere then it died. It turns over but it wont crank up. When i try starting it the rpm gauge wont jump like its supposed to. i thought it was the distributer but i replaced it and it still wont start. It also had an external MSD Blaster 2 coil. i used a wire tester to see if the ext. coil was getting to the distrib. it wasnt so i replaced the coil and still nothing.

i replaced a ground wire and checked all the connections. i put the wire tester to the positive and negative conections on the ext. coil and the light came on but put it on the one wire where it plugs in with the spark plug wires on the distributor and nothing came on

 

is it possible that its only the cord going from the distributer to the external coil
