Default Mount points for different engines?

Do all the engines in a series have the same mount points? What about Tranny bell housing bolt patterns?

yes, provided that you are talking cable to cable, not cable to hydro swaps.

Define 'series'? And you are talking about engine mounts as well as trannies? A D16A1 has different mounts from a D16A6. Maybe the B-series mounts are the same, but D-series definitely aren't all the same.

Basically, I'm looking for a different engine that will bolt onto my existing 4wd tranny. I could fab the mounts if need be, but I'd rather have similar mount points as well.

I have read that using the D16 from a late 80's Integra will mean me loosing my 4wd.

Otherwise, can I use a different head on my existing block?

my friend by a D16Y7 in his mom's 4wd wagon and kept the 4wd. i am pretty sure your tranny will mate to the D16A6 and D16Z6 as well as the D16Y7 long blocks.

I know that the D16A1 does not have the same mounts as any later D-series, but I think they have the same bell-housing bolt pattern. The EW/ZW (which later became D15??) will not bolt to a D16A1 trans, but they have the same mounts. I think you [pele] will need the trans from a 4G AWD wagon (yours is a 3G, right?).

And I think breaka_1_9 was talking about a 4G civic wagon because there are a heckufalotta changes to put a D16Y7 into a 3G chassis (wrong mounts, vac-advance dizzy).
