weird front end issues.... possibly bad lsd
hey guys im kinda new to this whole forum thing but im going to give it a try.. ok so what i have is a 91 civic hatchback std and i swapped in a full jdm gsr swap with optional lsd from osaka japaneese impoters and it runs beautifully.. i take my car to strip every weekend and had no issues for first six months then one day at track after i raced i notice its extra difficult to turn the wheel and im getting a loud clank during sharp turns... ive since then replaced numerous parts on front end until everything is new. and still had problems.. i got to thinking maybe axles and after no avail with my local autozone axles i caved and bought raxles for 390 with shipping and still same issue.. anybody have ideas sorry for long posting just want everyone to know the almost full story lol... p
also the issue stopped for about a month when i finally snapped an axle and replaced it.. only then i had some slight vibrations under load which ended up being my cv were junk that i had just purchased from autozone (no surprise) but after numerous axle combos and halfshafts and many alxe breakages ( 6 to be exact) 5 driver side and 1 passenger i thought i finally got it fixed cause i got rebuilt oem ones and everything good for 2 weeks until i went to track again and i didnt break an axle but no the clanking and hard to turn came back.. and during sharp turns its worst.. driving on road and threw turns is no problem only tight slow turns.. and you can also hear the wheels draging a bit thats when i got a trans guy to check it out and he thinks my factory lsd is busted and its trying to stay in lock up or something any help is greatly appreciated.. im tired of just throwing money at my hatch.. i been dealing with this issue for two weeks straight now.. (off and on for 2 months) before last track incident
no i havent replaced rack but only cause i know its good. its a manual rack and both inner tie rods are good and what i feel in suspension i never feel in the wheel, just in the car..
ive replaced lower control arm bushings and upper control arms with ball joints
radius rod bushing both wheel bearings brakes rotors struts and tie ends.. i really hoped i was having axle bind but im affraid i need a new differential

Good for you for figuring it out!
Wouldn't have really considered the LSD to cause a steering problem, but it makes sense now.
