Default Car running worse after cutting J1 to run stock map.

So I bought a 98 coupe recently from a guy. It has a JDM b16a II (obd2) converted to obd1 running a p30 ecu with a "mugen" chip apparently. Car ran perfectly normal with the chip, but I decided that I would want to run a stock map instead, and get the ecu rechipped with something else later on. I searched a few threads and found that if i cut the "J1" jumper wire, I can go back to stock map, so I did. Started the car, and all seemed fine, then after about 10 seconds, the car would start to bog down, almost stalling, but not quite. I found this quite strange. Took the car for a spin, and felt a definite loss of power. Any ideas on why this may be happening?

Only mods I have is a short ram. The previous owner put an ITR mani, but I have the stock p30 that i'll be putting back on soon.

let me know if you guys need pics/video

Re connect the wire.

That "mugen chip" is likely noithing more then some ebay POS.

Where did you see that cutting that wire would help? Link?

Okay. It seems quite obvious what the issue is. Car ran fine before you made the mistake and cut the jumper. After you cut the jumper the car ran badly. Solution? Reconnect the jumper. Obviously that solution did not work so posting links to it doesn't help you any.

You SHOULD have just had someone burn you a chip with stock basemap or better yet left it alone since there was absolutely NO issue with running it that way.

Well you cut the jumper, and the car runs like ****, it's clear what the problem is.

Here is your "mugen chip"- http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...All-Categories

If you want to run it a stock, get a different chip, and have a tuner burn a base map for your specific needs! Make sure you make that clear.
A tune is ideal, however a base map taylored to your needs will sufice for now.

Forsure. yeah question was stupid, just figured from what i found that cutting it "might have worked". ordered a basemap already and will get it tuned. just figured something else might have been wrong. sorry for the trouble guys. thanks!

I can't comment on it working, but those 2 threads don't have much info in them. lol

Hopefully you didn't hurt anything in the process.
