I HAVE A 91 SI HATCH I PUT A GSR IN IT N WHEN I FIRST PUT IT IN I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR WITH THE KEY NOW I CANT, WHEN I TURN THE KEY THE IGNITION MAKE A NOISE LIKE IT HAS POWER...WHAT COULD IT BE...I WANT TO USE THE KEY TO START IT.LOL

Lol, gives us some more info please. Is the motor turning over at all?

 

check the main relay, make sure the ECU is plugged in all the way, Maybe the starter wires came undone. There's that little clip that goes on next to the Positive terminal that comes loose. Check your wires up and down. Then test the relay and ECU

 

Could also be a bad ignition switch

 

check the clutch sensor wire on the starter, or whatever it is, then check the main relay under the dash and check for cracked solder joints. if it's not that, check to make sure the fuses and fuel pump are good.

last time i had a problem starting it turned out to be the actual fuel pump.

not yelling..lol just use to typin in all cap cus of work.....ok so wen i did the swap the first time on the first start up, i put the key in and turned it and BAM. all my work paid off the car turned over...then i did another swap (gsr) put everything back n i put the key in for the moment of truth..turned the key, i hear the fuel pump kick on all the light turn on on the cluster on the second click and wen u turn it all the way to start it you hear the ignition make a click noise lick it has power but dosent turn the motor over at all. the motor is silent...so i ran a wire from the starter plug n to turn on the car i just touch it to the positive terminal and the car turns over and start just fine...

 

Bad starter?

 

I'd say it's either the ignition switch, key tumbler or the starter.

 

Well, you can jump the starter so now we know that it's capable of working when it's getting power. I'd check the neutral safety switch at the clutch pedal.

Could be a bad starter relay too, take the relay out and jump the thicker wire and see if you can start it. Also a alarm system would do that too. If not either one then check if you are getting power to starter relay.
