How High can I rev??
Sometime this winter I am going to have my valve stem seals replaced, car smokes some, I figured while I was in there I could throw in some performance valve springs and retainers, and rev higher. I want opinions on how high I could safely rev it, with say supertech springs and retainers, stock b16 cams, it has a built bottom end, manley turbo rods, cp pistons, block gaurd, etc, I would like to be able to hit 9k or so, thanks in advance.
Basically what they said. Your torque and HP curves will flatten out and fall well before 9k. Assuming everything was put together correctly, you could take the motor to 9k. If you want to optimize your revs and shifting, put it on a dyno and look at the curves. You should be able to easily find the best shift point with a dyno sheet.
..plus i see now tuning program in that list so how youre getting past 8200 is beyond me. but if you have one you can change it to 9k and possibly float valves all day.
putting in new springs will allow you to rev that high mechanically. but power wise i doubt theres anything up there but noise with stock cams.

car is running s300, and a large turbo kit, it redlines insanely fast in 1st-3rd, i was hoping more revs would get me a little more breathing room so i'm not going through the gears so quickly
would switching to gsr cams give any reasonable advantage (power gain, etc.) at higher rpms

bigger slicks. bigger tires. or longer gears, shorter FD etc. i would put it on a dyno and then place your rev limit accordingly. as for said "LARGE turbo kit" how big is your turbo. if you think about it if your car were to still produce power up top and you increase your revs the only thing you can do is get better tires to gain traction. higher hp./peak hp will only make you spin. and lastly i hope you know how to drive (feather the throttle rolling on throttle smoothly)
I understand its going to spin on street tires, and yes I do know how to feather the throttle if I choose to, and I guess i should have been more clear, I want the ability to rev higher, I'm not necessarily going to do it right away. I just figured while I was in there, I would throw in some upgraded springs and retainers, I have a friend selling some brand new ones for super cheap because he is going with a K swap and no longer needs them. I however do not have an unlimited budget and am not able to afford a set of $500+ dollar cams right now, but maybe in the future I would be able to, and that would allow me to throw them in and go.
Also not being familiar with said parts, I didnt know what the limits were, of the parts themselves, I would hate to put them in and find out they are only good to 8500rpms or whatever, in a perfect setup how high could I rev using the supertech parts.
