96 prelude vtec manual transmission problem
So, I let my friend drive my drive while my clutch slave was leaking and he miss shifted going into 3rd and now reverse went out. So just tonight I was changing out the Honda MTF which looked pretty clean and clear after a year in a half. However I put in 75w90 synthetic blend gear oil and it feels a lot better. Butter gears, is what I like to call them. However when I was taking off the caps. You know how there are 2 caps on the side of the transaxle? I believe the top one is a 3/8" drive and the bottom one is 1/2" drive. So I pulled the top one and in the tiny hole to the left inside the plug of the transmission. I saw a piece of metal sticking out kind of. I tried to fork it out but didn't try very hard and it feel back inside. It shifts o-k 1st through 4th and 5th grinds usually. However I believe it should shift fine into 5th with the new gear oil. Anyway. Do I need a whole new transmission? Will the transmission need to be pulled to repair or replace the 5th gear synchro and whatever part broke on the reverse gear?
Thanks
