Hey Everyone,

I have a 5th gen prelude, and i keep getting this whining/supercharger noise ONLY in 4th gear! Once 4th gear is engaged, and only under acceleration, I hear this whine. It gets louder as the RPM's go up.

It only happens in 4th gear, when i press the clutch in, it stops...all the other gears sound great and the car pulls like a champ...even in 4th gear.

I changed my engine oil and flushed the tranny (used Honda transmission fluid)

Any ideas on the problem? I really hope I don't need to replace the tranny...i'd be devastated haha.

I have the same issue with my transmission but it's because I mixed up 5th gear set the last time I had it apart. With that said I can't tell you what happened to yours but I'd be willing to bet the transmission will need to be pulled and taken apart no matter what the cause is.

Whoa Really?? Well damm, that could def. be a problem. The car drives like a gem...it's just the noise. How long did or do you still have the problem?

I just got used to it. I have everything to fix it but I didn't feel like pulling it all apart again just for that. Been a couple years now.
