Default CROME v1.6.2 Complete User's Manual Input

I'm compiling a ton of personal and acquired information about setting up and operating as well as tuning with the latest version of Crome.
I'm making it for you, so I want your input to make sure I don't miss anything.
Things you'd like to know or wish you didn't have to figure out for yourself, any tricks or bugs you've worked out, and any valuable experience you might have.
Feel free to post text or links, please refrain from posting your opinions - nobody cares about them here.

It would be great if you could cover Crome GOLD in detail as most of the information is scattered and disorganized. Thanks for the effort Vegas!

The manual is intended for Pro and Dealer users, so the Gold base is the main focus, however plugins are explained as well. Most of that I've already laid out, I'm working on the logging and tuning section now. Is there anything in particular about Gold operation you'd like clarified?

Yes, but I'm sure you have covered it since it's fundamental to the use of the GOLD map. Please explain how to create the base map for the different engine blocks. If I understand correctly, the GOLD map is generic and the appropriate engine block code (P30, P72, etc) has to be imported unlike a standard Crome map which is chosen from those available in the .NEW directory. Thanks again buddy!

the CromeAu base is essentially a more developed version of the P30. If you import tables, it doesn't import options (including temp scales, etc.) so it's usually a good idea to copy them cell-by-cell from the original rom. I have an entire chapter on creating basemaps, but meanwhile if you need a specific Gold base I have custom .NEW files for most of the common engines so just PM me and I'll email you one. They were supposed to be posted on the Xenocron site but Chris stopped updating the lists.

:D hey there he is! uploaded a few bins to your site under the GravityLabs handle, it said they would be posted upon your approval. I haven't seen any updated files in years though, figured it wasn't maintained anymore.

I've got 2 GOLD bases installed in my Crome NEW directory - v0.90 and v0.94. What is the difference, which should I use and what codebase are they? Can I use one "as-is" for a stock B16?

v0.94 has minor updates for stuff like system events and (allegedly) better datalogging support. The Gold base is ultimately a P30 ROM with P30 scales, but for some reason my maps with v1.6.3 look like P73 so you might want to import the maps you need just in case.
Creating a proper base will be covered in the manual BTW.

*edit* to answer your question directly, I'd suggest using the newest version unless you have connection/logging issues, then revert to v0.90

i went from crome pro to ectune, now im going from ectune to neptune just because of support, i dont like having my ectune ostrich unpair itself and have to run on crome ...

sure i tune other peoples cars on crome, i dont advise it i prefer them to run something better but ***** expensive, ive ran crome for like 6 years went to ectune and saw the difference in complete maps, advance tables and everything works great , crome is buggy i dont believe their timing tables are correct..

i ran the same timing tables from my crome pro map to my ectune map, tuned in the afrs and i had to change the timing tables because the car was pinging i didnt change anything else when i went to ectune, just the program ...

anyways, a writeup for people who are trying to tune, would probably be a good idea, make sure newbies, when you start tuning, that you dont just adjust only your fuel and ignition tables, make sure you adjust your advanced tables as well it really does make that big of a difference, **** my car will run with the battery at 8 volts just like it will at 14.7 volts and it runs perfect, it doesnt die until the computer cant power the injectors or distributor no more my gauge cluster stops working well before my car stops running lol

Neptune is superior, bottom line. No bugs, great support, intuitive layout. However, if you know what you're doing, any editor can achieve the same results. I'd rather teach people how to do something correctly even if it's on a less desirable tuning system.
The manual covers all advanced tables and effective tuning techniques. Most beginners *should* be able to tune using this manual, however I'll keep this forum open for feedback as well.
Be patient, I'll git 'r done eventually.
