Default wheel bearing issues?

ok, heres the deal. Im working on a buddies 9o crx. he hit a hole in the road with it and messed up some of the front suspension(tie rods). I replaced the tie rods and ball joints(upper and lower), even though his were good, they were old. the car tracked weird going to the alighment shop and i heard a weird sound comming from the front left, it came and went. everytime it came the car pulled badly to the left. I went to the alighment shop and they did the alighment, took everything into spec, the problem went away.....or so i thought.

about 2 days later he was heading home from work and it did the pulling to the left again and the sound came back. He pulled over and checked the wheel, said everything was fine. got back on the road and it tracked straight(no issues) for 15 miles or so and then did it again.

i took it to my work today and went nearly 45 miles before it acted up on me. stopped for a second and took off again and it wasnt there, it drove tried and true. I tried everything to make it react and it wouldnt. I was about in my work after a few minutes of driving "normal" and it did it just as i was pulling in. as soon as i did get in, i lifted the crx up with 2 forklifts(getto car lift) and just checking it out, the hub was a little warm, but there wasnt any extra play in the wheel.

could it be a wheel bearing heating up and locking up/dragging??? also could it be the cv axles somehow doing it too? Ive went through just about everything i could think of and thats the only thing i can think of, and i cant seem to find anything wrong with it.

I was thinking maybe someone pressed the bearing in backwards(if that is a do able) or not using the right tools and caused damage. He replaced the bearings about 2 years ago.

Also, a buddy of mine said the tranny might be low to, would that really cause issues like that if its low?

What do you think???

Pressed the bearing in backwards? Are you trying to be a comedian?

The C/V axle would shatter before it would cause the described problem. Most likely the wheel bearing is bad if that much damage was done from this "hole" he hit.

It might be upside down to.

Check the bearing for play lift the front end up and shake the tire up and down left and right if it has play just left and right then tie rods. If it moves up and down as well then wheel bearing. And no a wheel bearing was not put in backwards. Lol

i was told that if it was installed backwards or incorrectly it would cause premature wear. Maybe use the wrong area to do the pressing or maybe pressued to hard? I normally do my own but he went to a shop so i dont know what the heck they did.

I tried the pulling tire trick, there wasnt any extra play, thats why im stumped. it only does it after about 20 miles of driving. i just took it to my work and it was fine but almost to my work it acted up. pulled over for 10 mins and it was fine. the rest of the way. if it was the steering rack or ball joints it would do it all the time and not just here and there.

Take it off and see if any of the slides are locked up or if the piston can be pushed in. It's that simple really.
