I got a eg coupe
D16z6 vtec running on p28
Never had problems with it
Besides squeaky alternator belt
Which you'll hear in video

But today out of nowhere
When I started my car
It made a loud nasty
Noise then started and ran good

I turned it off then on
And again on startup sounds bad
But still turns on and runs good

Any help is appreciated
Will post better vid in morning
If necessary
Not sure if u can hear it that well

Well first, get that belt changed. And as for the sound, it sounds like a normal D16Z6 to me tho..Maybe take a video while driving, maybe it`s louder than?

Check the drive belts, alternator, idler pulley, A/C compressor, and power steering pump.

 

Sorry for not saying before
But car has no a/c or p/s

Remove the alternator belt and turn the alternator pulley by hand. Does it make noise and is it difficult to turn?

He said something about sounds like
Starter messin with the clutch

Something like that

Anybody know anything like that?

So I'm guessing either
The starter or flywheel is done?

 

yea that sound is not good
and why dont u just fix the belt
all you gotta do is loosen the alternator two nuts and make the belt tight and bolt it back up
if you think its the starter just take it out and get it to kragen or autozone for a free check to see if its working
theres two 14mm bolt one on top and one on bottom you will need a longer attachment for the bottom one

are you referring to the squeal from the belt or the clunk when it is cranking? And you say it wont start does it crank or does it make a noise of some sort?

 

What your guy at work was referring to is the starter wheel sticking and the flywheel spinning the starter. When you try to start the car does it crank over still? May want to take the starter off, check the teeth on the starter wheel and flywheel. Good luck

 

Yeah yesterday it made that noise

Out of work and it started right up with no

Today in the morning
It doesn't even turn over
Just makes this loud ugly noise
Kinda like if u grind a gear bad
And it don't start

Hopefully it's the starter

Yeah id say def check the starter... It sounds like when your cars started and you try turning the key again... check all the teeth on the flywheel

 

Problem solved
Replaced starter and starts right up
Also tightened alternator belt
So no noise
