power or manual steering rack??
So i just purchased a 96 dx civic hatchback and didnt come with power steering. So i wanted to find out if it came with a power or manual steering rack and pinion.
How can i tell which one it is without having to take it off?

Get a flashlight and look down in there...if it had a power steering R&P It would have an area where the lines went into it...if not...it would be just a solid bar.
But I don't think your car came with power steering...I think only the auto's and sedans came with PS.

No. When you have two choices and one of the them is power steering, and someone says "no power" then it has to be the other-as in "no power steering". Not trying to argue nut following your logic it wouldn't be manual because manual could be taken to mean "Done by, used by, or operated with the hands." and that would be both of them.

That wasnt the question i asked i already knew i didnt have power steering as i stated above the question. I wanted to know or get a way of knowing if i had a manual steering rack or not. It was answered like i sayed thanks for trying.
The car didn't come with power steering so how do I know if it has power steering or not? That was your question. I answered "no power".
