I have a 02 EP3 and the brakes feel off. The pedal isn't soft or spongy but they don't lock up like they should. Normal braking is fine; I can stop at red lights and stop signs without issue. The problem is if I were to slam on the brakes I won't feel like I'm being thrown forward; it's more of a gradual stop, no emergency braking.

The problem started when I installed Stainless Russell brake lines ordered from Club RSX and also replaced the passenger front ABS sensor. I used new unopened fluid and bled the lines using a mighty vac pump (http://www.amazon.com/OEM-25136-Vacu...588433-4153418) starting with the front drivers wheel working clockwise around the car. I spent a hour today bleeding the front drivers wheel and kept getting air.

A friend suggested I disconnect the negative battery terminal and pump the brakes to depressurize the ABS system, but that didn't help. I was pulling air but the res did not move. It's as though air is getting in from somewhere but I can't find where. I'm not leaking any fluid either. Any thoughts?

 

I know someone said in the haynes manual it says start at the driver side or something but all of my years working on cars I've ALWAYS been told to bleed from furthest to closest... that being said start with passenger rear, passenger driver, front passenger, then driver last. Longest to shortest distance.


Also, check where all the new hoses you installed for air leaks. You might have a bad fitting/connection. Look for leaks.


and HOW THE **** did your brakes fall off? Or do you just mean figuratevly that aren't working anymore. Because I've seen people run their brakes soo low the pads fell out and ruined the calipers and hub...

 

I always went furthest to closest as well, I switched to what the manual recommends hoping it might make a difference...it didn't.

The brakes didn't fall off the FEEL off, as in not right. I've been looking for leaks but I haven't seen or felt any. I think I might switch back to the rubber lines and see if that make a difference.

 

mine were kinda like that . pads were very low and rotors were glazed. got new drilled rotors and ceramic pads stops on a dime now.
