Looking to get new ignition system. What to get?
i was looking into buying, plugs/wires/distributor b/c my distributor is starting to go....Plugs are going 2 be NGK's, wires i might go NGK or MSD. Mostly just wondering on what you think i should get OEM honda or MSD distributor(disregarding price different). If MSD is good what do i need to run it? or what should i look into getting with it? Set-up will be for a est. 500HP 20psi E85 stock sleeve B18c1, so i want a mint ignition since its stock sleeves.
i would find a good oem unit. running completely oem distributor, 480whp and .030 gap. no break up at 9000 rpm.

If the budget isn't there stick with Oem dizzy and you can run an aftermarket CDi box with upgraded coil. I'm running a summit digital cdi box with crane ps92n coil and a igniter bypass circuit and the car has great spark energy and picked up low end power from multiple spark from the. Di at lower rpm and just a hotter spark in general makes for a more complete burn. 400whp I'm running a gap of .0032 vs stock setup. Was running .0022.
This setup is cheap too the box was 150 something from summit and the. Coil was 68 bucks and to build the circuit cost about 15 bucks. Or you can use the igniter but I highly recommend taking it out of the distributor and put it somewhere it will stay. Cool. Heat is what kills the igniters

Depends what management he is running as to which m&w to run and it's not always affordable for the average person and it's overkill in many setups IMO.
this is true
im no fan of the msd stuff its what i started out on and well after replacing things a few times i went to the m&w and saved money because i havent replace it in the last 3 years now

I completely agree. I'm not a fan of mad stuff at all. The higher end digital 7 works but I would still go with an m&w over that in an instant. I had my fair share of MSD whoas lol in the past. Some people have no problems with them but I've had bad luck with anything other than distributor caps and rotors hhahaha

Im tuned on S300...btw the car is not boosted as of yet. right now its just full Bolt-on N/A...but i will be boosting this summer so as long as they're no problems running the items you guys mentioned for my Boosted set-up on my current N/a set-up everything should be a go. Pretty much my distributor is going so i figured this is the time i should upgrade to get prepared for boost and i want a mint ignition system for stock sleeves.
btw the car will be somewhat of a daily driver almost, driven prob about 4-5 times a week. So reliability/longevity is also key.
Price isnt really that big of an issue, but im not made of money, i rather get the right stuff now then pay in the future.

man ide get a compatible m&w kit then i think the pro10 fits your needs
this is good for dailey driving as well
i had my pro14 on my stock (stock) gsr making 590 and dailey driving it as well

While this topic is up...The pro 10 vs the pro 14 Kit...My goals will never exceed 600whp ish. I would like to upgrade my ignition as well....im thinking the pro 10 with the crane coil and harness from t1 should be more then enough for my goals? or is it more advisable to go with the Coil on plug with the pro 14? i am using the S300. I am thinking the Pro 10 is perfect for my situation...and my current plug gap of .020-.024 im thinking could be increased to .030 without ignitions issues. What are youre thoughts?
currently on factory ignition i have break up if gap is above .024 with over 14psi
Had a msd sci previously complete junk....never had any issues with factory ignition besides having to get real tight on the plug gap

i always gapped down till the ignition break-up stopped... i would stop at that point.
you cna blow out the spark with more gap is what im understanding lol thats why we gap it down, and make more pwoer as well
my stock gsr at 28psi was gapped at .022

Exactly, i realize the concept behind gapping youre plugs down on higher boost with OEM ignition. My question would be if youre running such a high powered ignition such as the M&W pro 14 or the 10 then you dont need to run such small gaps.. And it seems like you would benefit from a bigger gap then a smaller one if the ignition is powerful enough to jump the gap. The bigger the gap the more complete the combustion process will be. On OEM igntion clearly gapping down is needed or you will blow out spark (ive been there many times. .020 -.024 seems to be the a good point with my application 20-22psi.) However if i upgraded i should be able to increase the gap ( within reason of course, not oem but realistically .030-.032) without blowing the spark out since its a stronger ignition.
wrong man this is why many of the higher h.p. guys are running .020-.018 man
what the better ign box's do is clean up the signal allowing for a better crisper power band without any sputters in the graph

Also regrading the distributor how does using a OEM distributor with a MSD cap/rotor sound? after reading the kit from T1 they say your going to need a cap with an external coil post. and that MSD makes one
Also if i did get the pro10 is there anything else recommended to buy with that?
I saw T1 sold a kit that was around 850 for the pro10....is that the kit you recommend buying?
i paid near that just for my pro14 box i went this route for myself because i am also coil on plug, and running an aem ign box.
if you were to actually call tony and talk to him he would, and is almos always willing to help guide you in the right direction man

also i was wondering, ive been seeing a lot of parts regrading switching to coil packs on a b-series....(i saw the new adapter from importDPS) and was wondering that are the benefits of this set-up verses a normal b-series spark plug wire setup.
here's the link for the importDPS ad for the new spark plug cover

better juice for spark this is exactly what i have you feed spark to these and they dispurse it nicely. also do dizzy is needed, and thats a plus in itself for me i went with the t1 trigger kit, but you have to have an EMS thats compatible
so i assuming i would not be able to run coils b/c im using s300 atm, knowing that there for b-series that never had coils packs. is this assumption true?
