Default 1st gen b16a speedo swap help

So I have a 91 hf with a 1st gen b16a and My speedometer is not hooked up because from what i see it has a electronic speed sensor which IM assuming is jdm. I want my speedometer to work as its annoying to not have one. Now I know for vtec to engage you need to have the vss hooked up. So basically what im worried is. If i install the mechanical vss cable to the speedo vtec wont kick in when IM in the "spirited" driving mood. So I searched that i need to take the speedo out put signal cable and wire it to the ecu. So instead of reading off the tranny is reads off the speedometer. Now im a little confused so if some one can point me in the right direction that would be great thank.

Get the vss from a DA (90-93) integra.

The more you talk the more you confuse yourself... Just get a '90-93 Integra Mechanical Speed Sender and the rest will take care of itself (you won't throw a code 17 anymore). Simple as that.

Ah, whoops I read that wrong. Anyways, they must have wired up the electronic VSS so VTEC would work. You could always just swap in a "DC" (94+ Integra) cluster as most due. It is typically desirable to put in an electronic VSS. IF it wasn't wired in properly then you surely would be throwing a code.

The other option is to get a mechanical VSS and swap it in; then rehook-up the cable. After that you can hope they didn't hack the wiring too bad so the pulsar still works on the gauge cluster.

IM going to be totally honest the integra cluster in a crx looks like **** , it doesnt even fit right and the gas gauge is half cover by the trim.
