Default vtec engaging and bogging then pulling real hard ????

Ok so I bought a I stock 99 integra gsr that is stock. I it was throwing a check engine light for vtec presure switch so I pulled it off and cleaned it, rest the ecu and still no vtec. But the I noticed a plug that was unplugged so I plugged it in and got a knock sensor cel. So I reset the ecu and it went away and I have vtec now. But when it engages at 4300 it bogs down bad till it gets to about 5800 the n pulls real hard. Idk what it can be. Mods are headers exhaust, intake, and skunk 2 type r style intake manifold. Stock p72 ecu. Can it be that the ecu thinking the butterflies aren't open causing it to bog?

im believe its the ecu. try swapping with one thats chipped. if for some reason it is the knock sensor then try a chipped ecu. most of the time it dissables the knock sensor. and make sure those plugs aren't falling out.

I've experienced vtec Engageing at different rpms due to low/bad oil. I would change the oil since the vtec hasnt engaged in who knows how long.

Ok so I changed the oil and still the same. But the old oil was blacker than night. So im thinking im going to try to get an obd1 ecu with a chip and see what happens.

You are going to need an adapter harness for an OBD1 ecu then.

You are going to need a different ecu(chipped), b/c its trying to find your secondaries and since you have a skunk2 im you have no secondaries

Your Rpms are weird 4300 vtec and 5800 secondaries... It should be 4500 vtec and 6000 butter.

I thought 99 GSR was an OBD2a application...

That's why only the 00-01 has the immobilizer chip.

Is this true? I just don't want to buy the wrong jumper harness

Yes. I am 100% sure, even verified by Rywire:

if your not sure than take out your ecu and look at the female clip in.
there should be 4 female ports but only 3 with pins in it.
if your ecu has 2 on the far left side(I think) and one on the far right side and there is one with no pins in between the 2 side by side and the 1 far left than that is an Obd2a.
and if it has all 3 side by side with pins and the far left or far right(Depending on how your holding the ecu) with no pins than its an Obd2b.

correct me if im wrong please.
