Vtec at 6500, yes I searched
I have a friend who just finishes his B16B swap in a 00ex. Now he has been sorting out problems for a little but he just got it so that there are no engine codes but now his vtec is at 6500, and I know thats not normal of it. He switched the knock sensor to a us spec b16a cause he broke the stock one. Does anyone know what might be wrong?
Thanks

what ecu is he using? ECU is going to say when to engage vtec...any mods ie header/intake/exhaust?
check his oil pressure and make sure he has a suitable weight of oil in the car.
also keep in mind stock tach's can be off a ways.

it has something to do with the ecu...crack it open and see if there is a chip in there for some reason...if not than try swapping the ecu's if you have someone local with a pr3 or whatever....usually when vtec engagment is wrong, it leads back to the ecu...but i could be wrong

Re: (Honda-R)
the e/i/h whatever doesnt effect your vtec engagement.....its a stock ecu from japan so you dont know what is done to that ecu...someone over there could have overlooked a chip in the ecu....he's not running a vtec controller like a VAFC or BC Vcon or anything like that right?

Wel; we had a friend drive it that has been fixing on cars for a while and he said it could be a fuel proble, cause the d series didnt need as much as b16b now does.

What does that have to do with VTEC engagement?

dude is this just a topic to up your post count?? its not making sense to me...you start an engine and rev it(which im sure he/you did when you got it fired up)....i dont know about you but i can tell the difference in the RPM range anywhere over 2k...you should have known there was something wrong with the guage the first time he let the clutch out moved the car....maybe its just me i dont know...sorry if im wrong about calling you a post ***** but somethin doesnt seem right about this

Either/or. It's all about prefference.
