Default another jdm b16a BAR into 89 dx question

so i have an 89 dx dpfi converted to obd0 b16 mpfi vtec swap in my car. its running as we speak. harness was done by hassport. i been getting illegal smogs for the last two years. i was wondering if they are still letting jdm b16a motor get BARD?

i did research, some people say no you cant, some people say yes you can. anyone please!

From what I've read, you need to set it up like a 94 del sol vtec. This means obd1 conversion, ecu, distributor, and intake. Wiring must look clean and bolt-ons must be carb approved. You can go there and ask them, I'm sure they'll tell you what you need to pass.

Yes, if you want a chance at passing.

My homie just went last Friday. You can bar a jdm motor but you have to meet the California emissions so you will have to convert to obd1 and use a obd1 del sol Si ecu for a b16. They said that jumper harnesses weren't ok too.

Oh and direct replacement motors don't have to be bard. You just smog it as if it was in there originally. That only includes the d15b1, d15b2, d16a6 and jdm d15b non vtec engines for an EF.

Well thats good news; I don't think it would be much different with a b18c5 JDM right? I'm looking to put one in my CRX.

A b18c5 in a crx is alot of wiring changes and emissions stuff to change over. I am getting ready to bar my OBD1 teg with a B18c5 in it and I have had to convert the entire harness and emmisions system over to OBD2A cuz ITR motors first saw the states in 97 which was an OBD2A year for the tegs. If your going to go down that road be sure you get the right harness. I found that for my 98 ITR motor I had to get a 98-99 teg vtec main, rear, and engine harness to make it all work. the 96-97 harness wont work with a 98 up ECU (not sure about a 97 ITR ecu). the 96-97 harness is missing some of the emissions stuff for the fuel tank pressure sensors (causes CEL's like no tomorrow). So its not just an easy swap.Something to think about.

Yeah, that sounds like a massive headache; especially because I hate anything that has to do with wiring or electrical components--I'm quite uneducated in that department in general. Although, I also heard of companies making harnesses for that type of stuff? One that just sticks out to me right now is Rywire?
