EK Civic door lock problem
I am unable to lock the drivers door (with the key or with the lock/handle on the inside) when the door is open. When it is closed, the lock works with no problem at all.
I've taken the door panel off and can see that the interior lock/handle is fine. The problem is obviously in the latching mechanism at the end of the door. The problem is that that mechanism is covered by metal shrouding, blocking any access at all.
Before I go further with it, I was wondering if anyone on here has had the problem or has heard of the problem and know a fix for it?
Something else to add is that the aftermarket central locking doesn't work on that door, even when the door is closed. You can tell that the electrics are fine, but something mechanical is stopping it from locking/unlocking.

Oh right. Well that would explain it. It also narrows down the problem of my central locking problem to the device itself. I just assumed it didn't work due to a mechanical fault for the door lock itself.
Im not 100% understanding this right. But lol all civic's when the door is open you have to pull the handle out just alittle then lock it. then it should lock fine. try that and lmk
you can ............u have to pull the door handle and press the lock down at the same time. the feature was so u dont lock ur keys in the car but when u get used to doing it all the time this way it tends to not work anymore. lol
