Front Strut Bar
hello 2012 and everyone here. Ok simple question. what is the difference strut bar bolt on the suspension and on the chassis? They both work the same? I'm curios because a friend of my both front strut bar in his EK9. one is oem type r on the chassis and the other one is Cusco front strut bar on the suspension. Well both front strut bar were bolt fine here... I just wonder is it both front strut have their own benefits? Because I just bolt on the oem type r in my jdm eg9 last week. If i add another cusco strut on my suspension will be better?
Maybe my question is not so clear...
these are the sample picture I uploaded.... please imagine that both strut bar bolt on you car... and this is what I mean. You see one is on chassis and another one is suspension... and this is what I mean and I saw my friend both 2 strut bar like the picture below in his car... so any benefit between them? thank you

They both suck because of the the 2 pictured, they both flex. You need a solid bar if you're going to notice anything. And a 3 point bar is better than a 2 point.

3 point strut bars are "the best" however Neuspeed designs that grab onto the UCA are really much better for lateral traction and reducing chassis flex.
Anything with a joint is "bad."
Bad being subjective and to be taken with a grain of salt.
And talk about flex, the regular OE strut bars are about as rigid as spaghetti.
Better than nothing I guess.
EDIT: That Carbing 3 pt. with the MC brace is sweet.

no bolts except for what holds them to your car.
the first two pictured were as stated junk. they flex at the bolts and that is the weak point of any bar made like that.
you can get some 3pt if you spend enough time lookin for a little bit more then crappy 2pt.

You want to avoid points of failure. Those points on the bars you posted are right there where the bars bolt to the strut mounts. These decrease rigidity of the piece and are therefore useless.
As long as its a solid bar bending it is a totally irrelevant way to test its effectiveness. The bar is loaded in tension and compression only.
Also a three point will destroy your firewall in a minor fender bender and I highly doubt you would notice a difference from a two point anyway

FWIW, my setup looks almost identical to 1st picture OP posted.
I *did* feel a tangible difference when I installed the ITR bar.
Can bars with less-joints/more-points or those that mount directly on suspension provide additional rigidity? Sure.
But the above pictured ITR bar made a nice difference on its own.

And that's a whole different topic. But yes, I did. I can feel the difference when I take it completely off. And it aint no butt dyno either.
