any chance anyone could measure the width of their hood, and their trunk opening for me? i just want to know if it'll slide in w/ the seats down.

saw a post somewhere that the 8th gen civic hoods do fit thru the trunk w/ seats down.

much appreciated !!!

Take off old hood and drive to get new one. Unless it's raining no big deal. Seen many people do this.

+1

Take off your hood, leave it at home.

When you go to purchase, ask person whom you purchased it from for a hand for all of five minutes, and put the new one on.

I know a door will fit....its a pain in the ***** to get out though.

I think a hood would fit in the backseat....lay it from the floor up towards the back window.
I know a kid with a cobalt SS that has lost his hood on the highway...and he put his in the rear seat...drove home with it.

Or get blanket, put on the roof and tie it down tight.

Now that's being excessive, all he needs to do is put it on the roof and have some homies hold it down with their hands is all...

Or if you don't plan on keeping your current hood, you can replace it once you get it and throw the old one in a dumpster.

The only way it would possible fit is sideways in the trunk or leaning at an angle in a backseat (sedan only). I wouldn't do it though and I think it's unlikely it'd fit. I've had to drive home with a front bumper in the trunk of a coupe and it's a tight fit even though the piece is somewhat flexible.

Eighth gens have really short hoods compared with sixth gens.

^
I just picked up a EG like a month ago....in the backseat / trunk...had 2 full doors, front bumper, 2 fenders, and 2 full size tires on rims.

Could I see out the window? No
Did I only have to make 1 trip? Yep :D

Took me longer to shoe-horn the junk in the car, then making 2 trips wouldve....but you know, lol.

Getting out took double that time, lol.

I think the interior of a 5th gen is comparably larger inside related to the hood size versus a 6th gen. Not to mention the openings of the car.

I was definitely talking about a 6th gen before.

I think we figured out there were some items that actually fit in the '98 coupe better than the '97 hatch we had here. It has to do with the height of the panels on the shock towers in the rear. Those shock towers really make the interior much narrower than it would be.
