Default Aftermarket MAP sensor

96 Civic EX

Today I went to replace my MAP sensor with one from Advance, put it on the and car barely ran.

I double checked the part number, and it was clearly new.

Anyone else use an aftermarket MAP and have problems?

I know before I get lectured about aftermarket parts sucking, it was much cheaper, plus it was returnable so I took a chance.

Why are you replacing your MAP, I've honestly never seen a Honda MAP go bad

Return it and get a OE Denso from the junkyard.

If the rubber seal for the MAP sensor leaks, it could cause problems. Is a MAP sensor code thrown?

In addition, after installing a new MAP sensor, you should reset the ECU.

Where is the rubber seal? When I took off the old one, just saw a nipple? No rubber seal even off the old one?

It's an O-ring, goes around the nipple on the MAP sensor, if it's not on the MAP it's stuck in the recess in the throttlebody, if it's not in either place it's missing.

Hum, I noticed the opening in the throttle body even when I took out the original didn't see it, unless I miss it? Just looked like a metal hole, if I remember right?

Even the replacement one didn't have an o ring?

I just looked there is an o ring......if it is not there could I cause problems? Since mine was original, possible not there from factory?

Yeah it would cause your car to run bad or even stall. Doubt it came like that from the factory as it wouldn't run great at all but still probably wouldn't throw a MAP code.
