both (L and R) front map lights work when manually depressed.

when doors are open, the passenger side of the two won't light when the illumination switch is on "DOOR". it also won't light when the doors are unlocked with the keyless entry remote.

it was working intermittently today and then stopped, only working when manually pressing the light.

the passenger side door switch is ok because when that door is opened, the LEFT map light illuminates.

any idea what it could be?

 

Check for a bad connection or wire. Then, with the ignition OFF, get out your wire diagram and check continuity (ohms) on the wire(s) for that circuit.

 

it's at the map light box in the roofliner which has built-in circuit traces. everything checks out up to that so one of the traces must have burned up somehow. $20 part so i'm not that bummed but i never knew they would make the plastic map light box so complex!

 

And they get more complex every year. Thankfully it was a cheap fix.
