Starter bad??
ok excuse the bad pronunciation and grammer but my starter has been dragging when the key is hit for the past couple of days,97 2.2 vtec auto, all lights and radio work great,so its got the power yesterday i thouoght my battery died so my friend tried to jump me but nothing no attempt to turn over ..not even a click wiggled a wire on the starter and it started now today while on lunch it wouldnt start
if your starter checks out ok the battery is good and the connections for the battery and starter are good then your problem lies somewhere in the signal from the ignition to the starter.
for instance my prelude had a bad main relay preventing the starter from getting the signal. shortly after resoldering it it acted up again a few weeks later and it turned out to be the ignition switch. the under dash fuse box should have a starter relay which can cause the same problem. if you have a manual transmission there is also a clutch pedal switch that allows the signal to go to the starter. any of these can cause your problem but testing the starter first is the best thing to do
