i drive a 90 civic LX, after the gas gauge gets just under half way, the fuel pump beggins to whine. mostly while gas shifts from making turns or hard stops. the whinning gets louder and louder as the fuel depletes. When it reaches the 2nd line before "E" it will shut down, like its completly bone dried. but according to the guage theres gas?! and the guage is on because it works fine when i top up. also i have noticed that the MPG is not the best, im geting a hard 200 on a TANK. i was making like 350 when i drove and EK sedan. what do u guys think?

 

Sounds like someone tried driving it with a bone dry gas tank at one point. Or does it have a aftermarket fuel pump? Have you tried a new fuel filter?

 

idk i just bought it like 3 months ago. i fells like the bump bracket is maybe bent and not sitting in the correct possition

 

Are you talking about the gas tank hangers?

 

yeah, ive heard that the pump maks noise when its bout to die... but mine only makes noise when its below half a tank. its so weird
