I am at my wits end!!!!!! code 22 on a pr3, no vtec, someone help.!
I am tired of messing with this damn ecu code. i am sure my wiring is correct, but still get a code 22. I think my ecu is bad, but i dont know anyone with another pr3 or pw0 that i can swap with. I know this is ghetto, but i want to run a switch for vtec, to make sure that its the ecu. can someone tell me how to wire a switch so i can make vtec work temporarily so i can determine that it is in fact my ecu?
btw, its a 1st gen b16.

code 22 is not your solenoid (which switches VTEC), its your VTEC oil pressure switch. Its typically a green plug that is on the face of the vtec solenoid. Its two wires. The vtec solenoid switch which switches vtec is a single wire that gives +12 to switch vtec. The euc goes into limp mode when it does nto get a signal from oil pressure on the solenoid. The older b16a solenoids in japan did not have this oil pressure sensor some did however. To bypass this you need to ground the input into the ecu so it can see that there is oil pressure.

so ground the ground wire coming from the vtec pressure plug? it has two wires coming from it, so find the power wire and ground it coming from the ecu?
Run a 12 volt switched power wire to the switch from somewhere on the chassis. Run the other lead on the switch to the right terminal on the ECU. The 2 terminals on the switch don't care which is which.

assuming you're talking about a 88-91 CRX or cvic harness running a PR3 or PWO ecu ...
on the first plug, count to pin 8 (4 from the bottom) - this goes to your VTEC solenoid to give +12v to turn vtec on.
on the second plug, count to pin 5 (3 from top) - this goes to one of the pins on the oil pressure switch, the other pin on the oil pressure switch goes to ground.
