Ok so I started to notice that my ls vtec was smoking a lot from the breather, so much I had to pull over, the car was running good but smoked a lot. I found out that it was my gaskets when I changed out valve covers I forgot to switch the gaskets over to the new valve cover. My bad!! The oil was dumping into the plugs
Well sucked out all the oil out of the spark plugs and clean everything off. Then purchased new spark plugs. But now when it starts it's idles for about 10 seconds then turns off, but if I press the gas it's good but as soon as I let go it dies. I haven't changed out the spark plug wires yet was gonna try that tomorrow. Is there anything else it could be?
Help please!!!!

Any Check Engine light?
Might be your IACV or your Fast Idle Thermo valve (depends on how old the car is)
If the valve is stuck closed, your car can't get a steady pull of air to keep the motor running, so then it dies.
You adding throttle to keep it running serves as the substitute for that valve.

is this car chipped? are you running the fast idle valve? if u held ur foot on for a few mins for it to warm up some will it stay idling? i know mine car is chipped and im not running a fitv and my idle stays at 1000 all the time when its cold out it doesn't wanna stay running unless i hold my foot on the gas and let it warm up alil.

no check engine lights. its a 92 civic si
car is chipped on chrome, not sure if its runing fast idle valve. I havent cleaned out the spark plug wires i'm going to once i get home or just put a friends on for testing.
Again the car was running fine until i found the problem with the oil on the spark plugs. I'm thinking that when i pulled the wires out is when them might have gotten oil on the inner part of the wires.

Yes 30 min. A friend of mine said it might still be the oil that was in the spark plugs walls that dropped into the cylinders and might need time to burn off. I took out most of the oil that was in there before pulling and the spark plugs in the beginning.
