Considering buying a GS-R, some quick questions.
Hey guys,
I am getting my first car pretty soon!
I have my choice of either a 240sx, 95+ Civic Hatch, or GS-R
Any opinions of choice?
Better preformer?
How reliable is the GS-R?

Go with the GSR, you will not be disappointed. The mods you can do to this model out number the mods you can do to a civic or 240, IMO.
I've only had my GSR for 9 mouths or so, and have had no problems with it. As long as you keep up with maintance, the cars will last 100k miles +. Ask Volcom.
Oh I forgot to mention i have a 2001 that i bought from the dealership with 3300 miles on it in 02/04/02, it now has 11 k.

I'd get the 240sx and swap a Silvia engine. Best overall you could do affordable IMO. Yes I own an Integra, used to own a 240sx and wish I still had RWD and the ability to swap a decent setup into my car.
If you don't plan on modding the car much (I doubt that) then I'd go with the GS-R for sure, but overall 240SX's are an awesome platform. For $3000 or less you can swap in a reliable SR20DET and have a fast, good handling RWD car for a great price.
BTW, I too have a GS-R

i agree with the two above. But if you want a reliable car, i'd have to go with the GS-R.
Yes, the 240sx is the better performer (wish i had one, love them RWD) but i wouldn't trade in my GS-R for a 240sx because i know my car is reliable and is backed up with TONS aftermarket support to crush a 240sx.

240sx all the way. FR ownz. GS-Rs are nice, but come on!!
People also believe that a Honda won't need any $$ to keep up, but it's totally false. A GS-R may not BREAK, but you will definitely spend some money keeping it up. Keep in mind a lot of people have their synchros die around 90k+ miles (rev match please..)

First off, a stock Sr20DET puts 245-265 to the flywheel with lots of torque.
s15 has 250
s14 has 220
s13 has 205

More than likely you will get some biased answers on a honda board. What are you looking for in this car? looks, auto-x, drag, top speed, drift???? You should narrow down what you want before you try to pick a car. Just some advice.
Well I would have to go with the 240. Reason being, you can get a 240 for real cheap, fix it up, drop an SR20DET in it, and be faster than a GS-R for a lot less money. Plus you have a RWD car to go drifting in. I own a 1992 GS-R and I love it, I just want to be faster and I can't b/c I am broke. So I was thinking about selling it to get a 240 project car. I also love to drift, and I would do anything to have a RWD car.
First car ehh...
Dont get the Nissan. All we need is another fool behind the wheel of a crazy fast car.
Are you paying for this car? Or are your parents?
If your parents are... are they going to buy your motor for the 240? Probably not. The GSR can be made reasonably fast for not that much money. Boost is cheaper than a sr20det.
Then we got the whole reliability issue... we all know which car is more reliable!

I hope my Integra doesnt break 3 times in a year, that will **** me off it it does.
As for the price of boost, I keep thinking elsewhere. I forget they have those kits for ungodly amounts of cash! When i said cheaper, i was thinking I pieced together a kit for cheaper!
Either way, if his parents are buying this car, the 240 is not the way to go right now.

Agree with the parents buying the car thing. Also in the rain its easy to spin a Turbo RWD for a new driver. Yeah, making power in an all motor Integra=Breakage.
So far:
Left Front Axle
Right Front Axle (Both on street tires)
2 Motor Mounts *Shrugs* Maybe it was just there time. *lol*
Clutch (Broke a spring on the clutch plate and a tab on the Throwout bearing broke. )
