inner tie rod replacement?
i've done some research, and is it as simple as
taking off the outer tie rod
removing the boot
unscrewing the inner tie rod with that weird tool
and install in the reverse order?
and do you think my inner tie rod is bad?
my boot has been ripped for about 2 years or so, and just recently my car squeaks like a bad mattress when i turn the wheel and brake hard or go over bumps
i can see the ball joint looking thing in the boot, and its not covered with too much grease, i've tried putting grease on it, but it didn't help. It would just get wiped off within a mile or so and start squeaking again

It's easy to tell if your inner tie rods are bad. Jack up the front end and support it with jack stands. Have a friend grab the tire at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock position and shake the wheel/tire in and out. While he's doing that, you want to be underneath with your hand around the joint, grabbing it through the bellows boot. If you feel play in the joint, it is bad. You should also be able to tell if that is actually the source of the squeak. If it is squeaking, the only fix is to replace it.

The only good way I know to accurately find those kind of squeaks is with a 4 post lift or a grease pit. It's hard to pinpoint stuff if you have to stick your head under a car while it's on the ground.
But if you've already figured out the noise is the tie rod, they're easy to replace. Get new bellows boots while you're at it so the new tie rods won't be exposed to the elements.
