mini me oil pan
Hey guys, I recently did a mini me swap on my y7, and its all going pretty good, but I was just wondering if i should swap on a y8 oil pan as well? mine is dented and needs replacing anyways, so I figured it would only make sense, has long as that doesn't negatively effect anything.
Thanks, Kyle

a y8 pan will fit but id prefer a steel pan(Y7) over the aluminum (Y8)pan any day. take it off and beat the dent out if u can ,but the strainer may be in the way though. y8 and y7 oil pans have the same bolt layout and same housing oil pump so it should swap easily if u have one laying around. ive seen many aluminum oil pans crack and they are much more brittle u definitely wont bend a aluminum pan it will just crack and break. so if ur car is low and this is why it got dented id leave it a steel pan and find another y7 steel pan.
For what it's worth for every 10 oil pans we changed when I worked for Honda 9 of them were aluminum. It's really easy to strip the hole for the drain plug, it's also easy enough to smash one on something if you're lowered.
