Questions about transmission? Which is better?
ok so ill throw out my setup. I have an H22A JDM from 1996 Prelude, currently running the p-13 base map, stock internals, type SH cams, and somewhat ported. Also a try Y header from High end auto sports, and a Whale ***** intake from pass. JDM. Currently i have the M2S4 from H23A1 in it, but its got some problems as far as gears go( grind in fifth, sometimes doesn't like to go into first/ reverse). I was wondering what trans i should go with? I know an H2B would be best but i don't wanna spend that much on it right now. So if anyone could point me in the right direction of a transmission that does fairly well as far as H series let me know. I don't care too much about good gas mileage, want something that will get me the most HP to wheels.
oh by the way this is in a 93 civic hatchback with hasport H series swap axles and adjustable Koni shocks, and lowering springs. if that makes any difference.
Look for an m2f4. Shortest gearing of any h series tranny. Its the Stock tranny for a h22a1 which came in 93-96 prelude vtec. I have it and its great.

M2F4 and M2B4 is what you 2 are recommending? Serious?
M2F4 and and M2B4 have like mediocre gearing, M2F4 has an open diff and M2B4 has an LSD but it's a crappy viscous type.
Go for a U2Q7 or T2W4, shortest geared H transmissions with torsen helical LSD's.

H23 gearboxes are very long. Throw it away
I suggest U2Q7 or T2W4. As already mentioned, they are shortest geared H transmissions and very important thing - with torsen helical LSD's.
I think you should not create a thread like this and just open a chart with gearbox ratios (just google and you will get honda-tech, preludeonline or other forums with those charts), compare them. Google any gearbox ratio calculator and you will be able to see graphs, gears top speeds, compare different gearboxes and etc. And then you can choose exact gearbox.

I know that if you put the final drive of a 4.7 in that h23 trans it will feel similar to a b series trans no doubt that's the difference between the f/h trans but get the m2b4 lsd trans if that's what you want cause the t2w4 trans are expensive unless you make gwap.
You have it in a civic just do the H2B. best bet better options...or what this guy said throw a final drive in with an LSD.
Not worth it. His car already has a h swap. To do the h2b he has to change everything under his hood to run a b-series. Nothing from the h series is used in this swap but the h22 engine its self. It would be easier to buy a nice looking civic with a crappy b16 swap. Take the B16 out and sell it. Buy the h2b plate And put the h22 in. Then he will also need a h2b header. It is way cheaper to buy a t2w4 and swap out the final drive if you even need to.
