Default H2B Question

What are the advantages of going H2B rather than just swapping in the H series motor with the H series tranny also. Is it just a convenience factor of using B series mounts?

the gears are a lot shorter.....h series trannies are known for sucking dick period ....depending on what setup and H2B, you might be able to hit 12's onthe quarter mile

i know type R tranny have even shorter gears then the JDm GSRs but.. u gonna have to run some slicks or some drag/track tires... cuzz of traction loss huh??

with shorter gears......where do you top out...meaning... mile/hr...?? at..8500RPM or so??? with the H2B of course...

H series motors are awesome. but they're tranny's are notoriously bad. Cable FTL, gearing FTL.

The h2b allows you to run a much better tranny and mount the engine a bit further back on the axles eliminating the oversteer problems typical of regular h22 swaps which the motor sat more aft of the axles.

A tuned h2b in a lighter car will see high 12's and definately 13's with little effort.

h2b is a big rival for the k20 swap now.

You better know what you are doing to cruise an H22 at 8500 rpm on the highways. Factory rev limit is in low 7000 range. They can be ran to higher rpm's but only with good valvetrain and cams that can make power that high.

Your mph would be based on tranny gearing and tire sizes. Which would be no different that a B-series motor with the same tranny/tires.

Ground Clearance (QSD Kit)
Stock Axles/Geometry
Solid Shift linkage vs the H22 cables
No cutting the chassis which the H22 tranny requires.
Better selection of OEM B trannys to select from

Being mounted on a b series tranny also allows the motor to sit more directly on top of the axles thus eliminating some of the old regular h22 civic's oversteer.

Cable Tranny's FTL. Even on a k20, I'm waiting to see how the cable tranny's play out over the next few years.

Basically just bolts in like a b swap, just with a motor that has not seen much affection over the years. Well deserved though.
