Default 2000 hatch ITR losing coolant + White Smoke

Now i know if your muffler is producing white smoke your burning coolant/antifreeze. But when i took it for a test drive my car temperature didn't raise at all it stayed at normal temp. I know that im not burning oil or oil and coolant is mixing because oil is still fresh yellow and has normal oil level. I dont want to take my car to get a diagnosed yet because they cost about $100. Could it be that my head gasket is going bad?

Generally these little Honda four cylinders don't blow a head gasket between the oil ports and water jacket, so they hardly ever mix oil and water (Personally I've never seen one mix oil and water myself).

If you're losing water and it's smoking even when it isn't cold, you're probably burning it. Run a compression test to find out which cylinder is spitting water. It'll have a loss in compression. Not a ton, but a good chunk, telling you that the head gasket is blown between that cylinder and the water jacket.

If your compression isn't low in one or two cylinders and you're still smoking and losing water, I'd suspect the smoke being worn valve guides or rings, and the water is just leaking somewhere.

Re-reading your OP, you don't mention losing any coolant. If you aren't losing coolant and it's smoking, you've probably either got a worn out *** motor or if it's fresh it still needs broke in.

Well i am losing coolant because i filled the reservoir yesterday then this morning it was all gone. There's no leak but i noticed that heat was being produced from the headers. But i'll definitely run a compression test

I agree 100% with this guy, with the added comment... Becarful if you are losing coolant, DO NOT trust your temp gauge as if you're loosing coolant it can cause air pockets to form and if there is one near the temp sensor it can cause a false read out and you could do irreputable damage to the motor...

With a bad headgasket you will lose coolant and will not notice visible leaks, internal burnoff.

Take off the radiator cap, fill it with coolant, let it run to operating temp, look in the radiator is there a lot of bubbles? Also check the overfill as well.

Rev the car a lot of white smoke?

its not leaking to the ground, its leaking to a combustion chamber and burning off, hints the white smoke

I've also seen it happen when coolent leaks from in around the intake manifold into the runners, but can not really be noticed externally
