radiator fan doesnt work
what happened if my radiator fan doesnt work...is that bad sensor or something? CEL doesnt light on...but the water was coming out from radiator...or maybe auto fan relay? im a newbie
Chances are the fan quit working because the motor went bad or you blew the cooling fan fuse. It's likely you have water pouring out from the radiator because too much pressure built up when you ran hot and split the tank.
The coolant temperature sensor on the back of the block (greenish epoxied metal plug near the oil filter) is probably bad. They cost like $35 and I have replaced them on every EF I own at least 1 time. I would start there by jumping the wires to that sensor to see if the rest of the system works. If the fan turns on with the car on and those wires jumped, then that temp switch is bad.
For what its worth, the previous owner of one of my cars was so baffled by why the fan wouldn't turn on that they ran new wires from the fuse block to a switch to the fan. I ripped all that **** out and replaced the temp sensor switch i mentioned, and reverted the wiring harness to its original spec, and what do you know, the **** works..

How bout you test it instead of "assuming its bad". Unplug the fan. hook a wire up from the pos of the battery and another from the neg of the battery and hook it up to the plug of the fan. If it starts Fan is good. Then work your way back.
personally i HATE when people "add" a switch to the fan and manually turn it on.
Here is a simple process of elimination to get things going.
Fan dont work? alright lets test the easiest thing without applying any money to it.
1.Test the Fan switch. The switch can be located on the thermostat housing(obd1) or behind the engine block (obd0). To test, simply unplug the switch. Jump the plug (not the switch itself) using a single wire and turn to KEY II.
Fan works? = Bad switch
Fan still doesnt work? Lets move on to step 2.
2. While you have part 1 done, Find the Fan's RELAY. Should be mounted some where on the front radiator support (i own a crx, may be different on yours) You can actually hear the relay click when u turn the Key onto position II while having the temp switch plug still jumped.
Test the relay using a volt meter and see if its outputting a 12v signal. If you are unsure of how to use a volt meter, use a KNOWN working relay from a friend.
Fan works yet? yeah? = Replace relay.
Wow fan still doesnt work huh?
3. Well. Now we know that the switch is still good. Relay should be working.
now its time to test the fan. Unplug the fan. run a positive wire to one of the fans terminal and negative to the other. If this test fails then you have a bad fan motor. Replace.
These are the 3 simple steps i use when i buy cars that have fan problems.
Every one of my cars that had a fan symptom has been fixed using this method.
I hope you get it fixed rather than rigging it. Good Luck.

I'm with ^^... At least you know the fan itself works since you've got it wired to the ignition. Just fix it right. It's nice that our cars actually have fan switches. I recently removed my clutch fan from my 240 (-blah blah nissan in honda forum).. and had to wire in an aftermarket thermo switch to run the electric fans. Pain in the dick.
