i want to buy a civic for a dd, but after reading a couple of the stolen threads i'm curious if there is a certain year or model that is least desirable.

well the 2001+ have a chipped key and are not as easy to steal, plus not many people do work on the 7thgens so it doesnt attract much attention as say the eg ek em1 etc.
i got a 7thgen, havnt had anyone try to steal the actual car but have had attempts at them trying to get at my wheels

 

I sold a 94 civic sedan for 1300. it was white with tan interior and some funky prime wheels that looked like they belonged on a old chevy van . I dont think anybody would try to steal that or anything similiar to that.

Very true. At the least get an automatic. I've heard of thieves not going so Much after automatics. Although I see automatics getting jacked. Not as much as manuals.

 

2001 +

 

Don't get any Honda from 88-2001. People steal them in LA just for the panels and interior. My sister in laws 96 dx automatic got stolen and it was stock besides some cheap *** 14" wheels.

 

Get a corolla or camery or Tercell or something. Or save your self some money and get a bike and bus pass.

Even 2001 civic cannot beat this. I know this video for repo or towing company, but this is how my friend integra got stolen, he park just like the white corvette. If you didn't report it within 2 hrs since it's missing, I bet it's already a spare part. Coz He's integra has Lo-Jack, 3 kill switch + that time he take the ecu off. and still gone to this day.

Actually the 2001 is easier then the 98-00 sorry to say. But I like the 2001 car harness to setup a kill switch thanks to the way honda redid everything.
