1996 Civic dx free mods
Hey guys. Well i'm sitting here really bored, laid off from the plant and can't go back till after the first. So i was wondering if there are any free mods you guys do that i can occupy myself with. I was thinking maybe bypass the coolant in the tb but that's about the only one i know. lol. I know I won't be looking at gaining really any thing massive but every little bit helps.
Also any thing you guys do to free up space and make things look neater? I'm thinking i might do some wire tucks or something. Any suggestions or thoughts welcome. This isn't my first civic, just my first one newer than 95, so a little different, but not much.
Thanks Chris

Can't think of any free mods really. Maybe give it a damn good clean/detail inside and out.
The owner's manual says to wipe down the weather seals with vinyl protectant.
You could clean up and repaint any rust brackets etc under the hood.

Work with what you have
- Clean all of your air filters (intake, cabin)
- Wash and wax the exterior paint
- Check tire pressure
- Vacuum and dust your interior
- Check your spark plugs
Any members who suggests power gaining options should immediately be banned. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you drive a 15 year old DX model. Change your fluids properly, and follow suggested maintenance schedules. Anything else is wasteful and foolish!

Yeah, i spent all day cleaning and vacuuming and looking over the whole car. I'm gonna pull some brackets and such and give them a good cleaning and painting. Just really trying to stay busy lol. I'm not looking for power either the only mods this car will get is an intake to squeeze a little more gas mileage out of it and maybe a cat back because it has some exhaust leaks and one good rusted seam on the muffler thats leaking. That might just get a new or newish stock unit though.
Tighten up the throttle cable. There is an article on here. If you are running the stock airbox remove the intake resonator. You can make a DIY icebox. Adjust your e-brake. Paint your calipers (i suggest flat black) and as mentioned about any rusted brackets. Give the car a really good cleaning all over. Wetsand/polish headlights.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I'm gonna get into it tomorrow and touch a bunch of stuff up, clean under the hood some more.

Take off your front and rear bumper, side skirts, spoiler, raise the hood, and clean every inch of the car with simple green.
Be sure to wash it thoroughly afterwards, don't leave anything on your paint.
