1999 Prelude starts then dies after 2sec
1999 Prelude H22A4 209,000kms (100,000miles). Came in running fine. Performed a tune-up, plugs, wires (all NGK), fuel filter, air filter, cap, rotor. Performed a compression test. Went to fire the engine it started and then died. Its been doing this for four days. YOU CAN KEEP THE ENGINE RUNNING BY MANUALLY SQUIRTING GAS INTO THE THROTTLE BODY. Heres what I know and tested while keeping the engine running manually:
Mechanical timing is good
Ignition timing is good
Fuel pump was replaced (no difference)
Power and ground to the pump is good even after the engine tries to shut off
Injector pulse is good even after the engine tries to shut off
Injector voltage is good
Injector pulsewidth is good (1.7ms)
Compression is good
Ignition switch tested good
Fuel pressure and volume are good
Spark is good at the plug even after the engine tries to shut off
Still does the same thing with the fuel cap removed
There doesnt seem to be any reason why the engine wont keep running according to my tests, its def starving for fuel. Good luck! Open to any suggestions.

Check main relay could be shorting pump relay when car is on and loses pressure just an idea

Interesting thing I found this morning. Theres no engine codes at all, but if I unplug the MAP sensor the car keeps running. Im gonna try another MAP this afternoon.
The car came in running. No electrical connectors were ever unplugged. Simply disconnecting the map made the car run. I replaced it and the car runs fine. No idea whatsoever how or why the tune-up we did could have possibly caused the Map to fail coincidently, yet not throw a CEL. Its not like Honda maps commonly fail in the first place. This may be the strangest phenomenon Ive ever encountered in 10 years of working with Hondas.
