you can oversteer a bonestock civic dx pretty easily. just go into a corner nice and hot in second gear and take your foot off the gas suddenly...

That's the nature of this chassis (especially the hatchback). That's why they do so well in autox. Don't drive like an idiot on the street and it should be controllable, especially since you're on a smaller rear swaybar.

mine did it once on a freeway on ramp,
I was going to fast, I didn't know the road and a bump came up, my back end drifted and I corrected slighty
Felt like a pro drifter for a minute
But was scary and now drive real slow whenever I;m somewhere unknown

I had serious understeer issues at the previous event, i did a little too much to fix it.

No front sway bar, DA rear sway bar, GR2's and H&R springs up front, stock shocks on ebay coilovers in the rear.

Got sideways in both my old crx si and ek sedan every day leaving work, come in hot and lift, nice drift with decent angle. Both cars had koni/gc with big rear sway bars. Hell, my 2011 civic si would oversteer through every slalom gate at auto x, looked epic!

Most cars will oversteer when you lift off the throttle, fwd or rwd. It's the weight transfer.

Isn't good a bit over steered in a FF that have tendency to under steer ? I like mine did that, easier for me to turn faster at corner.

in my deffence i bought my coil over set up used off craigslist, came with the jspec coils on tokiko blues front and rear, the rears were blown when i put them on and my car was scary to drive, so i swapped them out for my gr2's that i had on my hatch. the fronts just recently blew out and i've been busy working my *** off and spending money on moving expences as apposed to new front shocks. yes, it's a little bouncy, but its tolerable. just feels really stiff. the rears being blown would send me bouncing all over the place.

Some looseness is good to rotate the car through the first part of the corner, but it looks like you consistently had too much. If you're fighting it everywhere, it's gone the wrong way.

P.S. The wheel coming off was scary/hilarious!

I've done it a few times and majority of them were by accident. ST rear sway bar on the highest setting, with 450lb ground controls in the rear along with rain is asking for trouble.
I'm thankful I haven't DD it for a few years now.

In most of those spins it was due to one thing... Cold Hankook C51's. I don't actually have that scary loose of a setup but when the Kooks are cold it's like Russian Roulette but when they're hot the car is quite neutral.

I have since switched to the Goodyears and have said goodbye to being scared on cold tires. I do not run a huge variant between front/rear springs and both my sway bars are stock.

BTW: the car with the big Tach in the middle (scene with steering wheel coming off) is not my car, is not me. My car is the one with the Burien Honda bumper sticker on the passengers side of the dashboard.

If you are not prepared for your car to rotate/oversteer then you haven't learned your car enough. That or you have it set too much rear bias:
  • too much rear sway bar[/*]
  • too much rear stiffness[/*]
  • too much or too little air in the rears (relative to the fronts)[/*]
  • too much toe out in the rear[/*]
  • too much toe in on the front[/*]
  • corner weights can be off too[/*]
  • or you are just not driving smooth enough[/*]

With my EF during autocrosses I had a log of what settings to use at different venues, temperatures and wet/dry. Of course on wet and slippery courses I toned down my settings (had Koni SPSS3s with 400f/450r, with ST rear sway and HF front sway). Something like 1/2 turn front, 1/2 turn rear air pressures were within 1-2 psi (35front 37rear when it was wet/slippery. When it was dry and grippy I had 1-1.5 turns front and full stiff rear and pressures were like 35front 42rears.

Gotta know your car more and learn how to drive it.

CivicSiRacer is right

Your sway bar combo is not working for you, not sure if the DA front sway bar bolts up (like DCs do for EGs) but you should give that a go, or go back to the Si one.. your rear Camber might need a little more negtive Camber to help the tires put in work. Your air pressures could be horrible. But finally any set up is drivable and controllable.. just goes into how you drive (aggresive [isn't always better] or the more smoother driver that keeps his car balance nutral enough to have the tires do as much as they can..

Hope that helped.. oversteer is bad for lap times.. might be fun sometimes but it isn't doing you any good..
