Default Fuel filter or something else?

I was driving down the street and noticed that when I pushed down on the gas pedal the car didn't move. The tach was moving. Where is the fuel filter located? Thanks

Behind the engine if you look from the front, it is on the right side.

Do you happen to have a description of what it looks like? Is it close to the brake master cylinder?

What year is your Accord?

This is a google search picture of what you are looking for. It will be on the Firewall in the engine compartment a little to the passenger side of center. It is under a 'black box' that has vacuum line running from it.

You sure it's not the transmission?

It sure sounds like a transmission issue but if he wants to change the fuel filter...

I don't think it is the trany since the first time it happened on a cold start. The engine sounds like it's starving for fuel. Not shifting. If it was a tranny issue, then explain this. Why could i go forward in the first place? No clunking at all.

Can you try to record a video of the car doing that?

If it's a manual the clutch is slipping

If it's an automatic it could be a lot of things like bad clutch packs or a converter. I check the fluid and make sure it's full.

You are reaching a threshold of where the transmission is slipping. Off idle up to a given speed(load) there is enough friction between the components to maintain a given speed/load. Once you hit that threshold whatever component is failing will just increase slippage.

If it's gear related this would apply to both AT or MT. 1st gear is fine as the load on the engine is light. Increase the load by changing gears the load increases, if its a MT the clutch may begin to slip, on AT it may be worn out clutch packs for 2nd gear.

With an MT usually when the clutch begins to slip it will just get worse in higher gears.

On an AT usually its a single gear/clutch pack that gets worn out, you can test this by accelerating fast enough to skip a gear. If first is fine but second slips, you can try getting up to a third gear by accelerating quickly, and then letting off the throttle to attain a 1-3 shift. If the car accelerates/maintains speed in the higher gears, then more than likely it's a clutch pack issue for a given gear. If the transmission still slips, then its possibly a low ATF level in the trans, or ?

You need to give us a better description of what's going on, what you are seeing/hearing/feeling with the car.
The better input you give us, the more accurate our armchair diagnosis will be. It may not be a transmission or fuel issue at all.

I checked the tranny dip and it looks and smells sweet.
@ madmike, the problem started earlier last week. On a cold morning, the car cranked over but I could hear and feel the engine starving for fuel. It died a few seconds later. Cranked again and all was ok. The recent incident happened in traffic. I was at full stop and then accelerated. Engine reved up to 3000 but didn't speed up normal. After coming to another full stop and then it went normal operation. I had a silverado from a few years ago that had the same problem. The dealer couldn't find the source. Just trying to find ideas as to what or where the source of the problem is. Its a 96 accord f22b1 vtec. Got 230k on engine and chasis. Will try to see if there are any stored codes.
